George Jonas in his op-ed says "there's no Palestinian state, while the Jewish state has existed for over 60 years". Really? What about Jordan? What about the now free Gaza? What about the fact that there is one Jewish state and many Muslim Arab states - all of whom have exactly the same culture and are made up of exactly the same people as the Palestinians. It's a shame that the Palestinians' combination of "pity me" combined with widely inaccurate evil propaganda about Israel has even Jonas believing in their lies. It's a shame to see Jonas promoting a state that is known for its hatred of Israel and Jews, honour killings, oppression of women and hays and suicide bombers.

letter re editorial of National Post Sept 13th

At a time when we are having difficulty distinquishing between immigrants who will be good Canadian citizens because they will integrate with our society, and those who will never intergrate and be detrimental to us and our culture, we are presented with Afghani refugees who have proven their dedication to our values and their support of Canadians. They will be good Canadian citizens. Surely we should let them into Canada as a thank you for their help and on humanitarian grounds. If this means that we must restrict or postpone other immigrants, then so be it. It is not a high price to pay.

Re: Building on the West Bank and Border talks NP A12 Nov 16th

two points -

First, Obama's U.S. political and security guarantees are worthless. The U.S. is not stopping Iran and they are powerless to stop Hamas and in truth support them through the U.N. U.S.guarantees are only worthless pieces of paper.

Secondly - If the Palestinians really wanted peace, especially setting a border, they would increase talks when Israel builds more housing near Jerusalem, not decrease talks. Building near Jerusalem is all about the border so this is the time it should be discussed. Refusing to talk over border issues shows that Abbas does not want peace and the settlement of the border.

Who is a Jew

It is quite clear that since there are Ethiopian Jews who look like Ethiopians, Indian Jews who look like Indians, Iranian Jews who look like Iranians, Syrian Jews who look like Arabs, and Scandinavian Jews who look like Scandinavians, Jews are not a race. They are a culture, a civilization, a religion or more likely, a combination of all three. Suggesting that Jews are a race is a show of ignorance. Jews are a small minority of the population and it is easy to look at them and avoid the larger, more immediate and more important questions that should have been raised by this court case. As Jews are generally peaceful, the important question after the Hasan incident is "Who is a Muslim? Is it a person of peace or a radical Islamist jihadist?" Another question is "If a religion shows prejudice or racism against others, such as the prejudice shown against Gays by all three Abramic religions, what should the state do and should the religious institution have state funding?"

The real question is not whether Jews constitute a race, but whether religions should be exempt from the standards of morality and the values of the host country.
